What’s New in PTE? (Latest Updates till July 2025)
We continuously update our platform to reflect the latest changes in the PTE Academic and PTE Core exams. Here’s what’s changed recently:
- Introduction of PTE Core (February 2024)
- Pearson launched PTE Core, an English test for Canadian economic immigration.
- Unlike PTE Academic, PTE Core includes more real-world, workplace-related language.
- Test takers can now choose between PTE Academic and PTE Core depending on the immigration or academic route they are pursuing.
- Reduced Test Time Still Applies
- Since November 2021, the test duration has remained 2 hours (instead of 3 hours previously).
- This change continues into 2025, with all sections condensed but retaining the same level of reliability and accuracy in score measurement.
- Optional 10-Minute Break Removed
- The optional break between sections has been removed, streamlining the test to be completed in one sitting.
- Instant Score Access via MyPTE
- Many test centers now provide PTE Academic Online results within 24 hours, with most available in under 48 hours.
- AI-Based Scoring Remains Intact
- Pearson continues to use its automated scoring engine, praised for its consistency and lack of human bias.
- This makes test prep strategy more about mastering specific task types and scoring mechanics, which we teach across our free guides.
- Score Comparison Aligned with CEFR and IELTS
- Updated concordance tables help test takers compare their PTE scores with IELTS and CEFR levels, especially important for visa and university equivalencies.
